Crafter’s Companion Subscription Box 36 – May 2021

The latest card kit has these 2 amazing create-a-card scene dies that are really just beautiful. You can do lots of fun techniques with these dies but truly just plain die-cutting on their own and they are gorgeous. The site with the demos has been down but you can check back to see if it has been updated – Crafters Companion Box site. The pretty purple box contains over 290 elements including 2 large metal dies, card blanks, envelopes, dew drops, pearls, ribbons, and lots of beautiful colored and patterned papers. The paper pallet is very soft and pretty. I did use some black cardstock and holographic cardstock for some added fun.

Sara Davies, the owner of Crafter’s Companion, always puts together a fun kit that is packed with lots of crafty items and new techniques. My kit was delivered with auto-ship through HSN as always.  You can check out Crafter’s Companion website for more information.  This kit, as always, is a wonderful bargain. There is a Facebook group that you can join once you subscribe which provides lots of community support and loads of examples; plus, Sara also has a monthly card kit site that you can refer to for demos/project pages.

You may want to use some adhesive backed paper since there are a lot of intricate details to the dies or you can use a dotty tape pen. You may also want to use some acetate behind the card fronts to add more stability. For stamping, I used the Spectrum Noir quick dry inks and the Harmony Water Reactive inks. I also used the Spectrum Noir Tri-blend markers for all of my coloring. I find they are easy to use and blend colors without having to put much thought into it. CC has an amazing range of coloring products that even a novice can use and look like an artist. For glue, I used a combination of xyron tape, 3D glue gel and I used collall wet glue to raise up a few of the sentiments. I would also recommend the Crafter’s Companion glass mat.  It is a true game changer.  Once you work on a glass surface you will agree!

Here are a few of the cards I made – let me know which you like best…..

I used my triblend alcohol markers to color in the right side and I glued down 2 inches on the left to make a book fold card.
I did some plain old matting and layering for this card and added a few pearls and ribbon to embellish.
I decided to use my metallic ink pads for a more mysterious and darker look. I really love how this turned out with the blue and purple. It gives off a magical look.
Now look how fun this one came out with a simple mat behind it with the holographic paper. It changes the look as you move the card because the reflection constantly changes. It is super cool in person. I inked the top of the card before I cut it with the Spectrum Noir harmony water color inks.
This was such a simple card to make but I think this one may be my favorite. I love the die itself because it has so much detail but the black image makes it pop even more. I used Spectrum Noir Harmony water color inkpads in the background.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I would love to see what you create too so please feel free to share! Happy Crafting!!

  1. They are all great cards. I think my favorite is the black mushroom with the orange/pink back ground. It really pops.
