Using the Stamps of Life October 2020 monthly stamp and die sets (snowglobe) and the monthly cardkit, I had created a few spinner cards recently. Several people have asked me how to make them, so I decided to create a quick blog post detailing the steps.
I’ve made two different types of spinner cards here, but just know that the process is the same for both styles and you can probably think of even more ways to create spinner cards from different styles too!
Here are the steps:
Cut 4 card fronts 4.25 x 5.5 (white card) and cut 4 patterned paper pieces 4 x 5.25 and glue together Place the snowglobe in the center and lightly tape down. Take a second card and attach behind – you can tape them together so they don’t shift Run them through your cutting machine – you will cut through the first layer and your second layer will only make an imprint Use this imprint to align your next cards and repeat for all 4 layers. This is what all 4 layers will look like when cut. Keep your leftover pieces to make additional cards!! You can mix and match if you like. Cut 2 snowflakes of Blue mirror cardstock with adhesive on the back and two additional snowflakes in plain white with adhesive I added the white layers under the blue to strengthen the snowflake Stick together the blue and white layer and add a piece of fishing line or string as shown Stick all layers together so the blue is on the outsides (front and back) and the fishing line is inside For the X-Card you need to score all 4 card layers in the center as shown After scoring, glue the first 3 layers together as shown Before gluing the last layer, tape down the fishing line in the center And to further secure it, tape down the edges as shown Glue the last layer in place and your spinner should be center of the X Card. Decorate as you like. For the A2 card, cut the snowglobe into the front of the card and suspend the fishing line/spinner between the card front and the patterned paper (no scoring needed) For this example, I did not cut the entire snowglobe into the card front – I traced the outline of the globe only and cut with a pen knife the globe opening. I suspended the string between the card front and patterned paper as previously described and then decorated
Just a few last tips: Use a strong double sided tape or glue to secure the fishing line/string. I recommend a liquid glue to secure the card fronts together. Decorate all of the cards as you like! I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial! Happy Crafting!!
Awesome Card! I enjoy your emails and tutorials! Thank you so much:)
