Crafter’s Companion Subscription Box 21 – February 2020

This month’s kit is really unique – it’s all about building adorable characters. The kit comes with several sheets of pre-cut characters (giraffe, elephant and tiger) that you can easily assemble with glue, foam tape, etc. It also comes with a generic character die set that enables you to make several other types of characters like a dog, a cat, a lion or a unicorn!  You can build layers into these characters for added dimension. Let’s take a look at what is in this month’s kit…

Sara Davies, the owner of Crafter’s Companion, has given you just about everything you need to make amazing cards. The February kit includes 630 elements in total! You will get the generic character die, 15 sheets of pre-cut characters to punch out, 5 sheets of pre-cut word bubbles to punch out, a full sheet of clear acrylic stamps, a package of 8×8 solid colored paper, a package of 8×8 patterned colored paper, 24 card blanks in four different sizes with coordinating envelopes, pearls, and ribbon in 3 different colors and 3 different sizes – wow! My kit was delivered with auto-ship through HSN as always.  You can check out Crafter’s Companion website for more information.  This kit is a wonderful bargain. Each kit offers different items and will show you new techniques.

There is a Facebook group that you can join once you subscribe which provides lots of community support and loads of examples; plus, Sara also has a monthly card kit site that you can refer to for demos/project pages.

In addition to this kit, I did use a few extra items. I die cut balloons from a previous CC die set, I used foam tape to add dimension, I also used a combination of collall wet glue for most of the projects and 3-D silicon glue to help raise some of my elements.   Crafter’s Companion sells a 3-D glue gel that adds dimension depending on how thick you lay it on.  I highly recommend this glue!!!  I would also recommend the Crafter’s Companion glass mat.  It is a true game changer.  Once you work on a glass surface you will agree!

I was in a bit of a crunch for time, so I did not make any cards with the generic dies yet, but I fully intend to!! Here are a few cards I made with the pre-cut characters. You will notice some I layered as is, but others, I double layered and then assembled for added dimension.

I used TWO layers of each body part and then assembled the characters. They really stand out on the page.
At this angle, you can see the double layers and the dimension.
This giraffe is a single layer of body parts, but there is still dimension between the layers.
This card is so much fun – both of these tigers are on action wobblers! They are still popped up with foam tape, but the wobblers add another element of fun!

I can’t wait to play with these some more – the characters are so incredibly adorable!!

Let me know if you have any questions. I would love to see what you create too so please feel free to share! Happy Crafting!!
