Fun Fold Cards Part 2 -How To Make Easy Fun Fold Card Bases

A while back, I shared with you how to make A2 fun fold cards that add interest to your cards.  I think it is time I share with you a few more of my favorites that are very easy to make.

Folding Diagonal Card

Start with cardstock that is 8 1/2 x 11 inches. Score down the center at 4 1/4 inches and then score it at 5 1/2 inches across. Basically, you are scoring the paper so that it makes four boxes that are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. Once all of the scoring is done, you need to cut on a diagonal from the top left corner down to the lower right corner. You should now have two diagonal fold card bases. Simple right!! Now the fun part is decorating. To add layers to the card, you will want to cut two 4 x 5 1/4 inch papers in your favorite cardstock. One of those layers will need to be cut on a diagonal from top left to lower bottom right. These are your front card layers. The remaining layer can be used on the inside of the card for your sentiment. Here are a few pics that may help you visualize the card and layers….

Pop Up Corner or Pop Up Stage Card

This card base makes a really cute pop up card that when folded flat, it is a 4 1/4 square. You will need a piece of cardstock that is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 square. Score down the center at 4 1/4 and then score across from left to right at 4 1/4. Now you should see four equal parts that have been scored. You will need to cut from the bottom center line up to the middle center line which will separate the two bottom squares only at the center. That is the main card base you will need for this card. So now the fun part is decorating. You will need to make six card layers that are 4 x 4 inches in size. The first layer will be used on the front of the card, the next four layers will be used to cover the inside flaps of the card, and the last layer will be used for your sentiment and private note. Here are a few diagrams that will help guide you.

Once you have decorated and glued on the layers as shown above, you need to stand up the card.  You will need to slide flap 3 (the lower left flap) under flap  4 (the lower right flap).  This pops up the card and now you will only see 3 of the 4 decorated inside flaps.  See the final card below from the front view and then opened.

Bridge Fold Card

This is definitely my favorite quick, go-to card base.  It is fast and simple to do.  Start with one piece of 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock.  Cut it in half across the middle at 5 1/2 inches so that you have two pieces of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch bases.  We will only need one of these pieces to make this card. The other card base can be saved for another card.  Score the card as shown below at 1 3/4 inches; 3 inches; 5 1/2 inches; and 6 3/4 inches. Make sure you work all of the creases.  That is all there is to it!!

Now it is time to work on the layers. Find your favorite patterned paper and have fun with this. You will need the following layers: two 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 layers; two 1 x 5 1/4 layers; and two 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 layers. Take a look at the examples below for some fun ideas. I used 3 different Stamps of Life stamp and die sets.
